While the struggle for star cricketers like Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Rohit Sharma continued in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025, Ravindra Jadeja had a great time bowling for Saurashtra in Rajkot. Indian all-rounder took his second five-wicket haul of the match against Delhi earlier today, registering stunning figures of 7/38 in the second innings for Saurashtra in their Elite Group D Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. The 36-year-old took five and seven wickets in both the innings respectively, dismantling the Delhi lineup that included batters like Rishabh Pant, Ayush Badoni, and Yash Dhull, among others.
Jadeja, who took 5/66 in the first innings to dismiss Delhi for 188 on Day 1, took seven more Delhi wickets in the second innings, to finish with a spectacular match tally of 12/104 in 29.5 overs. Jadeja even challenged his fellow Indian teammate and senior Delhi batsman Rishabh Pant in each innings, deflating the latter's Ranji Trophy return. With this impressive performance, Jadeja is back in form after an injury layoff last year.
Ravindra Jadeja continued with wicket-taking streak, making Delhi's line-up fall apart
In the first innings, Ravindra Jadeja managed to dismiss captain Ayush Badoni, Sanat Sangwan, Dhull, Harsh Tyagi, and Navdeep Saini, completing his 200 wickets for Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy. Jadeja scored 38 runs in the first innings, helping the hosts to an 83-run lead. During the second innings, Jadeja demolished the Delhi line-up, taking seven wickets and reducing them to 94, to play a key role in his team's 10-wicket win.
Tasked with chasing down just 12 runs in the fourth innings, openers Harvick Desai and Arpit Vasavada just 3.1 overs to achieve the needed mark for Saurashtra. Moreover, star cricketer Rishabh Pant scored only 1 and 17 in both innings of Delhi's Ranji Trophy return in Rajkot.
Star Indian cricketers continued their low performance
While Jadeja had a great return to the Ranji Trophy, other Indian internationals such as Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer had poor performances. Rohit got out for three and 28 in Mumbai's match against Jammu and Kashmir at the BKC Stadium in Mumbai; Jaiswal scored one and 26; while Iyer got 11 and 17. Meanwhile, Gill scored four for Punjab against Karnataka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, both Jadeja and Pant will be soon playing for India again for the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE.
