Australian batter Tim David came up with a remarkable knock of 68* runs in the Big Bash League clash against Sydney Thunder in BBL 2024-25. While hitting the knock, the 28-year-old also completed his 5,000 runs in the shortest format. His effort helped Hobart Hurricanes cruise to a comfortable 6-wicket win over Sydney Thunder to register their fifth win of the season and take a two-point lead to gain first spot on the points table. Owing to David’s knock, Thunder were able to post a total of 164 runs for six wickets with a total of 19 balls to spare. 

David smashed two boundaries and a six off Wes Agar’s over, which was later followed by 21 runs off Mohammad Hasnain’s next over. He sealed the match for his side with a six over deep mid-wicket fence off Agar, which was his second six of the over, and handed the side a comfortable win. During his knock, David hit four fours and six sixes. 

Tim David completes 5,000 T20 runs

As David scored 68* runs, he reached the milestone of 5000 runs and scored 5,039 runs in T20s at 29.99. This was his 17th T20 fifty and a second successive unbeaten half-century and a second successive unbeaten half-century in BBL. Recently, he scored a 62* run knock against Adelaide Strikers recently. In 71 BBL matches that David has played, he scored 1,239 runs at an average of 28.81. He registered his 4th BBL fifty, where he has 84 fours and 72 sixes. 

The game also saw David Warner scoring 66-ball 88 runs, where he smashed seven boundaries. However, his knock went into vain as Hurricanes successfully chased the total of 164 with 19 balls to spare and won the match by six wickets.
