Delhi Capitals became subject to fans’ trolls after they lost their IPL 2024 season opener against Punjab Kings on March 23, Saturday. The 17th edition of the tournament began on March 22, when Chennai Super Kings locked horns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The reigning champions began their season by clinching a six-wicket win over their counterparts. On the second day of the tournament, the action shifted to Mullanpur, where Punjab registered a four-wicket win.
Delhi Capitals came to bat first and scored 174 runs with the loss of nine wickets, with Shai Hope being their highest-scorer at 33 runs. Punjab displayed brilliant blowing prowess as Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel picked two wickets each. Coming to bat second, Punjab kept losing wickets until their most expensive purchase Sam Curran announced his arrival. Curran played a crucial knock of 63 runs and guided the side to a comfortable win.
