During a match against England at the Centurion while chasing a target of 324 runs on September 27, 2009, Smith turned out to be lone warriors for the Proteas with a captain’s knock of 141(134) runs, hitting 16 boundaries. However, it wasn’t enough as South Africa fell short of the target by 22 runs. #PAGE_BREAK# Sachin Tendulkar: 141 vs Australia, 1998 Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar also makes in to the list with his match-winning knock against Australia in the inaugural edition in Dhaka on October 28, 1998. Batting first, Tendulkar scored 141 runs off 128 balls, hitting 13 fours and three sixes as India posted 307/8 in their 50 overs. In reply, Australia were bowled out for 263 in 48.1 overs as India won the game by 44 runs. #PAGE_BREAK# Sourav Ganguly: 141* vs South Africa, 2000 Sourav Ganguly went on to play the captain’s knock as India made it into the semi-final of the 2000 Champions Trophy (known as ICC Knockout at that time) after defeating South Africa in the semi-final in Nairobi on October 13. With the help of Ganguly’s 141*(142), hitting 11 fours and six sixes, India posted 295/6 in their 50 overs. In reply, the Proteas were bowled out for 200 as India won the match by 95 runs. #PAGE_BREAK# Andy Flower: 145 vs India, 2002 Former Zimbabwean wicketkeeper Andy Flower comes second in the list of batters with highest individual score in the Champions Trophy for his fighting knock against India in Colombo on September 14, 2002. In reply to India’s 288/6, Flower top scored for Zimbabwe with a knock of 145(164) runs with 13 boundaries. However, his efforts went in vain as Zimbabwe were restricted at 274/8 losing the match by 14 runs. #PAGE_BREAK# Nathan Asle: 145* vs USA, 2004 New Zealand’s Nathan Asle with his match-winning ton against the United States as the Kiwis went on to post the highest-ever total of the Champions Trophy at The Oval on September 10, 2004. Batting first, New Zealand posted 347/4 with Asle top scoring with 145*(151) runs, hitting 13 fours and six sixes. In reply, USA were bowled out for 137 runs as the Kiwis won the match by 210 runs.
