Almost a month after the tragic stampede in Bengaluru, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has held Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) responsible for the chaos. Notably, after RCB’s IPL 2025 title win on June 3, the fans gathered in large numbers outside the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on the next day on June 4 to celebrate their team’s maiden title win.
However, with so many people gathered at one place, the situation got out of hands as it turned into a stampede with around 11 people losing their lives and over 50 people hospitalized. After the tragic incident, several questions have been raised about who is responsible for the stampede. Some people blamed the Karnataka government while ssome blamed the RCB team management. Now, several days after the incident, the Central Administrative Tribunal released an official statement where they blamed RCB for the stampede.
The RCB did not take the appropriate permission: CAT
In their statement, the Central Administrative Tribunal mentioned that the RCB management didn’t permission from the police before organising the event. “Therefore, prima facie it appears that the RCB is responsible for the gathering of about three to five lakh people. The RCB did not take the appropriate permission or consent from the Police. Suddenly, they posted on social media platforms and as a result of aforesaid information the public were gathered.” CAT noted.
“Police personnel are also human beings. They are neither ‘God’ (Bhagwan) nor Magician and also not having the magic powers like ‘Alladdin ka Chirag’ which was able to fulfil any wish only by rubbing a finger.”
