Former India cricketer Kiran More thinks Rinku Singh has potential like former India greats Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni. More opined that the young Indian cricketer can become a great finisher, just like the former India skipper. The former Indian wicketkeeper believes the KKR batter can finish games as efficiently as Dhoni in the future.
The 60-year-old was in a conversation with JioCinema, where he said that if the 25-year-old is groomed well by the Indian team management, he can go on to become a wonderful cricketer. "I have been waiting for his opportunity in the Indian team. And that batting position, of No.5 and 6, he will perform well in that spot and can end up being a brilliant finisher. We all have seen MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. After that, we haven't got a player like them. We tried making such players, but it didn't work so far.”
More added, “Tilak Varma is also there, he too can perform that role. Rinku is also a brilliant fielder. And I have seen him in domestic cricket as well, he has improved a lot I feel.” Notably, Singh was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in the IPL 2023, where he scored 416 runs in 13 innings, with a combination of three fifties.
The UP-born cricketer got his maiden nation call in the three-match T20I series against Ireland, which commenced on August 18, Friday.
