During the ongoing 58th match of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, head coach Ricky Ponting confirmed that DC opener Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of an ongoing season. Shaw was earlier admitted to a hospital due to a high fever. The batter shared his picture from the hospital couple of days ago.

In the absence of Shaw, Srikar Bharat is set to open alongside Warner for Delhi in a must-win game against Rajasthan. However, Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant was also asked for an update on Prithvi Shaw's availability, but he didn't reveal anything. But Ponting confirmed the news after the commentator asked them about the same during the match. Another Delhi player, Khaleel Ahmed, has also picked a hamstring injury due to which he didn't feature in the game against Rajasthan Royals.

Speaking of the match, Rajasthan Royals suffered an early blow in the form of Jos Buttler, who got dismissed after adding just 7-runs on board. Another opener Yashasvi Jaiswal too, scored a run per ball before returning to the pavilion in the 9th over of the first innings. R Ashwin, who was promoted at top-order, scored a brilliant 50 off 38 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal added valuable 48 runs in 29 balls to take the side to a competitive total. Delhi Capitals has managed to score 159 runs on board at the loss of 6-wickets. For Rajasthan Royals, Chetan Shakariya, Anrich Nortje and Mitchell Marsh picked two wickets each in the first innings.
