The football summer transfer window is wide open and it’s not just players who are being traded but coaches of clubs also await their fate for the next season and it seems Paris Saint-Germain’s manager Mauricio Pochettino does not have good news coming his way. The Argentine’s future with Parc des Princes looks uncertain with the club looking to sack Mauricio Pochettino after an ordinary season.
According to reports in French media, PSG are close to confirming the sacking of coach Pochettino. L’Equipe and Le Parisien reported on Tuesday that meetings have been held between lawyers for Pochettino and the club to come to an agreement that would see the Argentine leave the French capital. Mauricio Pochettino who was appointed in January last year has another 12 months left in his contract.
Le Parisien reported that “the separation agreement has already been reached and there are only a few details still to be finalized”. It is anticipated that sacking Pochettino would cost between €15-€20 million to PSG in severance payments to him and his backroom staff. Notably, PSG have already parted ways with Brazilian sporting director Leonardo and replaced him with Portuguese super-scout Luis Campos in the role of football advisor.
Zinedine Zidane to succeed Pochettino?
With the departure of Argentine from Paris almost finalized the name of his successors also doing the rounds. Local man Zinedine Zidane is the first and the most-suited contender to take over the reins from Pochettino. However, Nice coach Christophe Galtier is also not completely out of the race. But Zidane seems to be having an edge with new sporting director Luis Campos 'pressured' by the club's Qatari ownership to appoint him over Nice boss Christophe Galtier.
The Frenchman is also well-aware of what is brewing in Paris and has already formed a plan to revamp the Parisian club. Zidane has reportedly asked for 'absolute control' over recruitment and has also put forth a demand to sanction two free transfers to start his reign. Reports have suggested that Zidane wants to add Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele to his squad at the Parc des Princes.
