Indian badminton players are diligently preparing for the upcoming Asian Games, honing their skills through rigorous practice sessions. Notable athletes such as PV Sindhu, an Olympic medallist, have shown great promise in recent tournaments. Sindhu displayed her exceptional form by comfortably advancing to the next round in the US Open Super Badminton tournament. Another rising star, Lakshya Sen, also showcased his prowess on the court, securing a convincing victory in his match.

However, B Sai Praneeth faced a formidable opponent in Li Shi Feng, the current world number 7, resulting in his defeat. Sindhu's match was an impressive display of her talent as she swiftly defeated Diksha Gupta with a remarkable score of 21-15, 21-12, completing the match in just 27 minutes. Her remarkable performance earned her a spot in the second round. Similarly, Lakshya demonstrated his dominance by triumphing over his Finnish opponent with an authoritative score of 21-8, 21-16, in less than 30 minutes.


Indian Shuttlers Face Mixed Results At Open


In another exciting match, Sankar Subramanian faced a challenging test from his Irish counterpart, Nhat Nguyen. However, Sankar's tenacity and skill prevailed as he emerged victorious with a final score of 21-11, 21-16, after an intense battle lasting 44 minutes. Conversely, Praneeth valiantly fought against the second seed, Shi Feng, showcasing his determination. Although Praneeth exhibited exceptional skills, he narrowly missed out on victory, ultimately losing with a score of 16-21, 21-14, 21-19 after an arduous one hour and 14 minutes on the court.


In a women's singles match, India's Ruthvika Shivani, ranked 61st, faced a formidable opponent in Lin Hsiang Ti from Chinese Taipei. Despite her efforts, Shivani was unable to overcome her opponent's prowess, resulting in a defeat with a score of 14-21, 11-21.

Former Commonwealth Games champion Parupalli Kashyap experienced a mixed performance in the tournament. While he displayed remarkable skill and determination in his first match, defeating England's Rohan Midha with a score of 21-19, 21-17, Kashyap faced adversity in his second match against Japan's Koo Takahashi. Midway through the match, trailing with a score of 21-23, 7-11, Kashyap retired from the game.


Unfortunately, the men's doubles pair Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala faced a disappointing outcome in the tournament. They were unable to advance beyond the opening round, succumbing to a defeat with a score of 14-21, 14-21 against Lin Yu Chieh and Su Li Wei from Chinese Taipei.
