India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu crashed out of the ongoing Korea Open 2023 on Wednesday, July 19. The Indian shuttler lost her Round of 32 match to Pai Yu Po of Taipei. Sindhu, who had a better head-to-head record over her opponent 4-2, lost 21-18, 10-21, 21-13 in a three-set game which lasted for 58 minutes.

The double Olympic medallist, who has been struggling lately also announced her new coach. Sindhu on Tuesday announced that she will be guided by former All England champion Muhammad Hafiz Hashim until the 2024 Paris Olympics. The same was approved by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). 

Talking about the other Indian shuttlers in the tournament, the mixed doubles pair of Reddy B. Sumeeth and Ashwini Ponnappa lost 23-21, 13-21, 21-12 in a 47-minute match. Tasnim Mir also lost 21-11, 21-18 against her Korean opponent Kim Ga Eun. Kiran George, Aakarshi Kashyap, Mithun Manjunath, Ashmita Chaliha ad Malvika Bansod could not also carry forward their moment as they bowed out.

Priyanshu Rajawat enters second round of Korea Open Super 500

India’s Priyanshu Rajawat however, stumped his authority over local player Choi Ji Hoon in men’s singles competition on Wednesday, the World No. 32 registered a straight game win over Choi 21-15, 21-19 in a 42- minute battle. The Orleans Masters winner will next face top seeded Kodai Naraoka of Japan.

The mixed doubles pair of Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy also won their match against Philippines Alvin Morada and Alyssa Ysabel Leonardo 21-17, 21-17 to advance into the next round of the Super 500 badminton tournament.
