A year after the Tokyo Olympics was originally set to commence, the sporting festival is set to get underway on July 23. Although there were many who raised concerns over the hosting of an event of such a big magnitude amid a health emergency, the multi-sport remains on schedule this year and athletes are gearing up for the same.

With less than 10 days to go for the Games, star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu, who is one of the biggest medal hopes from the country, shared a photo of her Olympics nail art on social media. Sindhu has painted an Olympic ring on her nails prior to the games and the photo shows the complete ring on her middle and ring finger. "#olympicfever #10daystogo #tokyo2021," she captioned the post. The photo has gone viral on the internet with people from all walks of life and around the world taking to social media to wish her the best for the games.

Notably, Sindhu remains one of the key contenders for the medal in the women's singles category in badminton. What also works in her favour is that rival and Spanish ace Carolina Marin, who defeated her in the final of Rio Games in 2016, is out with an injury. Although she hasn't won anything since the World Championship, Sindhu is known to bring her A game in big competitions and is bidding to become only the second athlete after wrestler Sushil Kumar to win multiple individual medals at the Olympics.

The 26-year-old is seeded sixth in the women's singles category and has been drawn in Group J for the games. She is set to face Hong Kong's world number 34 Cheung Ngan Yi and Israel's Ksenia Polikarpova, ranked 58th in the group stage. Meanwhile, she is likely to face World number 12 Mia Blichfeldt, who has been drawn in Group I, in the Round of 16.

Although at the outset it looks like Sindhu has been handed an easy draw for the Games, she has categorially denied that by stating nothing comes easy in the biggest sporting spectacle.
