Team India head coach Rahul Dravid confirmed that the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be his last tournament with the Men in Blue. In a press conference, the former Indian captain asserted that he would not apply for the position after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed his departure after the World Cup.

Dravid became the Indian men's team coach in November 2021 after a successful stint with the U19 and the A team. He has been pivotal in Team India reaching one World Test Championship final, one T20 World Cup semi-final and the ODI World Cup final.  Though the Men in Blue failed to go over the line, Rahul Dravid and his coaching staff built one of the most dominant teams in India's cricketing history.

With Rahul Dravid vacating the head coach position, Gautam Gambhir has emerged as the next option.  In a recent event at the Medeor Hospital in Abu Dhabi, Gambhir was asked if he wished to coach Team India.  Gambhir's response to the question was,  "I would love to coach the Indian team."

"There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and more across the globe as well and when you represent India, how can it get bigger than that?" he continued.
