The second phase of IPL 2021 is set to kick off from September 19th in UAE and the preparations for the same have already begun. With Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings already reaching the venue with a month for the remainder of IPL 2021, the buzz for the same is on a high. Ahead of the tournament’s commencement, Rajasthan Royals have released two of their key Indian players, namely – Shivam Dube and Yashaswi Jaiswal for Mumbai’s tour to Oman. Left-handed batsman Yashaswi Jaiswal and all-rounder Shivam Dube have been named in the 14-member squad of Mumbai’s tour to Oman.

“The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) urged RR to release these players from their camp for this tour, and the franchise agreed in the interest of cricket,” revealed Salil Ankola, Chairman of Mumbai’s Selection Committee. Akola had earlier appealed to Rajasthan Royals to release the two players as their team’s first-choice players are busy with their international duties and IPL commitment.

Dube, Jaiswal to join IPL after Mumbai’s tour to Oman

Mumbai is set to tour Oman for a white-ball series, consisting of 3 T20s and as many one-day matches starting from August 22. They are scheduled to play the 3 T20s from 22nd August to 26th August 2021, with the one-day matches beginning from August 29 to September 2. Notably, all the players of the Oman tour will have to undergo mandatory one-day quarantine in Muscat ahead of the limited-overs tour.

“It’s good that Oman invited us for this tour. Due to rain, no cricket has been possible in Mumbai. This tour will give our boys good match practice. It will help us prepare for the limited-overs leg of the domestic season,” Ankola further added. The Mumbai squad has been practising for this tour for over a month and have also had motivational sessions with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar in the last month.

It’s to be noted that RR players Shivam Dube and Yashaswi Jaiswal will be joining the franchise in UAE after the tour of Oman. It’s also interesting to note that, the Oman Tour will be beneficial for Shivam Dube and Yashaswi Jaiswal, as they’ll play in similar conditions to UAE before joining Rajasthan Royals for IPL.
