Thirteen years on the field, the 32-year-old Ishant Sharma is set to make an appearance in his 100th Test in the third of the four Test match series against England, starting from February 24. Sharma, who is likely to play his part in the Pink-ball Test at Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad will become the 12th Indian to play 100 Tests and 70th in the history of Test cricket. He picked three wickets in the first two Tests against England in Chennai because of spinners ruling the pitch.

In the only pink-ball Test played against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, he took 5 for 22 in 12-over spell and 4 for 56 in 13 overs he bowled. Ishant Sharma missed playing close to 45 Test matches after making a debut in 2007. In his 99 Tests played till now, Ishant has scalped 302 wickets, bowling 613 maiden overs, with an average of 32.22.

When asked by a media representative on the best captain played under, Ishant quoted, "Rather than captain understanding me, I need to understand the captain". According to him, discussing the situation with the captain is best and the captain assuming for the bowlers.

In his opinion, playing for the country in itself is a big achievement seeing the performances in First class cricket, IPL and other major platforms, citing stances of Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur over the kind of skill they possess.

India is set to play the third (pink-ball) Test at world's largest stadium - Motera in Ahmedabad from 24-28 February against England. Indian spinners fought to be in contention for the World Test Championship after registering 317-run victory, thus leveling up the series 1-1.
