Former India cricketer Ravi Shastri who has also served as the national team’s head coach is among the top commentators in world cricket. His low-pitched voice with the perfect tone makes up for an admirable combination. But as is the case with everyone on this planet, mistakes are bound to happen and it did with Shasti as well. But it was not a fumble.
Shastri erred factually and a Twitter user was quick to notice that. The 60-year-old claimed Indore as the capital city of Madhya Pradesh while commentating during the third T20I. Notably, the final match of the three-match T20I series between India and South Africa is being played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Hence, Shastri got carried away and called Indore as the capital of MP.
After this mistake, a Twitter user shared a tweet asking Shastri to better his Geographical knowledge. “@BCCI Ravi Shastri to brush up his Geography. Capital of Madhya Pradesh is Bhopal and not Indore as Shastri informed during TV Commentary today.
Coming to the match, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. India made three changes to their playing XI. While star batter Virat Kohli and vice-captain KL Rahul were rested from the match, young pacer Arshdeep Singh missed the match with a back issue. The pacer felt discomfort in his back and hence was rested.
Meanwhile, South Africa also made one change to their playing XI. Dwaine Pretorious replaced Anrich Nortje. Notably, India have already claimed the three-match series having won the first two matches. This will be India’s last game (T20I) before the team departs to Australia for the T20 World Cup Down Under.
