Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been dealt with a major blow as one of their retained players has been ruled out of IPL 2022 with an injury. According to a statement released by the franchise, Ravindra Jadeja will sit out of the rest of the games in IPL 2022 with an upper-body injury (bruised rib). Notably, the CSK all-rounder had sustained the injury while fielding in his team’s game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

According to the statement by Chennai Super Kings, Jadeja’s injury has not gotten better even though he was rested against Delhi Capitals. Thus, the management is reluctant on risking their top player by making him play in any of their further games.

“Ravindra Jadeja reported a bruised rib and was unavailable for Chennai Super Kings' game against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. He was under observation and based on medical advice he has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL season," read the statement from CSK.

Forgettable season for Jadeja

This break may work as a blessing in disguise for Ravindra Jadeja who has had rather a topsy-turvy season. The Saurashtra all-rounder started the season as the captain of the Men in Yellow. But after two wins in seven games, Jadeja decided to hand over the reins back to MS Dhoni. Apart from captaincy, he struggled to perform individually as well.

In ten games in IPL 2022, Jadeja only scored 116 runs and took 5 wickets, none of these performances were close to his standards. Known for his athleticism and acrobatics while fielding, Jadeja dropped dollies this season. Throughout the season, it looked like something was playing on his mind.

Now with a considerable gap between his franchise and national duty, Jadeja would feel relaxed and will try to forget these ten outings for CSK in IPL 2022. If the injury does not heal in time, the India all-rounder may also miss the five-match T20I series against South Africa.
