IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has appointed Andy Flower as their new head coach. The official announcement of the same was made on Friday, 3 August by the Faf du Plessis-led franchise. It is to be noted that Flower takes over from Sanjay Bangar, who served as the head coach in IPL 2023.

The former Zimbabwe cricketer was in the support staff of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the 2023 edition after making his debut in 2022. While he was replaced by Justin Langer in the LSG colours after the 2023 edition, he will now serve as the head coach for the Red and Gold in the forthcoming season.

RCB shared a tweet to make  the announcement official on Friday. “We are beyond thrilled to welcome ICC Hall of Famer and T20 World Cup winning coach Andy Flower as the Head Coach of RCB men’s team. Andy’s experience of coaching IPL & T20 teams around the world, and leading his teams to titles at the PSL, ILT20, The Hundred and Abu Dhabi T10 will help on developing a championship winning mindset and take RCB’s #PlayBold philosophy forward.

The former cricketer also expressed his excitement to join the side. “I am really proud to be joining RCB. I’m truly honoured to represent a franchise of their size, reputation and standing,” he said. “RCB have an unparalleled fan following and I can’t wait to fully experience the atmosphere in the Chinnaswamy next season,” Flower further added.
