Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have initiated legal action against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star opener Travis Head and Uber over their ad which is alleged to demean the Challengers. SRH and RCB are considered fierce rivals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Back in 2024, when both sides clash against each other at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, SRH notched up 287/3 in their 20 overs and became the team with the highest score in IPL. In Hyderabad’s scintillating achievement, Head played a vital role as he struck his maiden IPL ton in just 39 balls and became the fastest batter to hit a century for the Orange Army. The match ended in SRH’s favour by 25 runs.
This year, SRH will square off against RCB in Bengaluru on May 13. However, weeks ahead of their game, the former’s opener Head has seen himself in trouble as the latter felt hurt over the humorous advertisement. The ad features the 31-year-old Australian entering the stadium to ruin it with the words ‘Royally Challenged Bengaluru’, before leaving the scene on Uber Moto.
RCB have accused Uber of defacing their brand and also put charge on the eminent cab-booking company of copyright infringement for using the phrase ‘Ee saala cup naamde’, which is the emblem of Royal Challengers Sports. “This is a targeted attempt to mock and dilute the identity of Royal Challengers Bengaluru,” asserted RCB’s counsel Shwetasree Majumder to Justice Saurabh Banerjee, as per a LiveLaw report.
MI register convincing win over SRH
Will Jacks turned out to be the star with his all-round performance as Mumbai Indians got their third win in IPL 2025 defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium.
After taking two crucial wickets with the ball, Jacks went on to score 36 runs with the bat as MI chased a target of 163 runs comfortably losing six wickets.
