Real Madrid have been very proactive in the summer transfer window, signing star midfielder Jude Bellingham and bringing back Brahim Diaz. Madrid had already strengthened their midfield last summer, signing Aurelien Tchouameni and it seemed the era of the golden trio was coming to an end after Casemiro left to join Manchester United. In a big update, Toni Kroos has signed a one-year contract extension with Madrid, as the club was eager to keep him and the player has put pen to paper in a new deal.
Kroos had admitted that he was of the idea of retiring at the end of this season, but in recent months it had become clear that he was going to remain at the club. Kroos joined Madrid in 2014 from Bayern Munich. The midfielder has since gone on to win European football's biggest trophy on four occasions with Los Blancos during a golden period for the club.
“Real Madrid CF and Toni Kroos have agreed to extend the player's contract, which remains linked to the club until June 30, 2024. Toni Kroos arrived at Real Madrid in 2014 and is already the German player who has defended the shirt the most times of our club, with 417 matches,” Real Madrid said in its statement.
According to reports, the presence of Carlo Ancelotti has been important to his continuity, as well as the fact that he continued to play in the key matches last season. Madrid have a problem of plenty in the middle of the park, with Carlo Ancelotti now able to call upon Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde and Kroos will be an excellent mentor to the youngsters.
