Premier League referee David Coote was seen making derogatory remarks on Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp in a viral video which is believed to be a few years old. The video has been circulating over X (formerly known as Twitter) where Coote can be seen discussing two separate Liverpool fixtures with another man. As soon as the video went viral, The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), a governing body for referees in English football, confirmed the suspension for Coote from the Premier League.

In a viral and unverified video, David Coote expressed his negative opinions on Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, who left the club in May 2024. The second man in the video asked Coote, "What did you think of the Liverpool game earlier?" to which the 42-year-old referee responded, "Liverpool were s***." After that, the man asked him, "What do you think of Jurgen Klopp?" to which Coote replied, “Absolute c***. Aside from having a right pop at me when I refereed them against Burnley in lockdown, he accused me of lying then had a right f****** pop at me."
