Reiss Nelson, an Arsenal standout, will have his season start delayed after his trial for an alleged attack by his dog was postponed for a year. On Monday morning, the 23-year-old winger showed up at court anticipating to go on trial for allegedly attacking his massage therapist at his north London residence.
The trial was scheduled, to last three days, but as more evidence was being acquired, the date was changed to August 12 of the next year. This indicates that the trial will probably begin at the same time as the 2024–25 Premier League season.
Saeid Motaali, a massage therapist, was allegedly attacked by a dog on December 2, 2020, and Nelson is accused of being to blame. Tiago, the dog, is alleged to have hurt Mr Motaali's foot. Nelson disputes ownership of the canine that injured people while being dangerously out of control.
As he was led into court on Monday morning, Nelson, who was completely in black, covered his face with his arms according to the Evening Standard. After court workers attempted to locate additional chairs to accommodate reporters and the public in the small courtroom, one member of his entourage was forced to stand for the hearing as the judge adjourned the hearing.
