Ryan Garcia, the American professional boxer, called out his fellow countryman Gervonta Davis, while wearing a special t-shirt which had “Rematch Me B****” written on the back of it. The 25-year-old went into business for himself after Gervonta Davis had successfully defended his WBA Lightweight Championship against Frank Martin at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, June 15.
In his first boxing match after knocking out Ryan Garcia last April, Gervonta Davis was too hot to handle for Frank Martin, who got knocked out at 1:29 in the eighth round. Notably, during the last 14 months before his return to the sport, the Tank served a 44-day jail term for violating the terms of his house arrest.
After his emphatic win, when Gervonta Davis was celebrating inside the squared circle, Ryan Garcia climbed up to the apron from ringside, embracing him before sharing a laugh as well. Moments before Davis walked away, Garcia showed him the back of his t-shirt, which read, “Rematch Me B****”.
I’ll kick his ass again: Gervonta Davis on Ryan Garcia’s rematch challenge
After defeating Frank Martin to retain his WBA Lightweight Championship, the reporters asked Gervonta Davis about his interaction and the subsequent challenge from Ryan Garcia in the post-match press conference. In response, the 29-year-old stated that KingRy was crazy in regards to challenging him for a rematch before remarking that he will kick his ass again.
Gervonta Davis also spoke about his return to professional boxing and said, “I was rusty but it was ok because I'm back. A couple of rounds, I felt like I completely needed a warmup but its OK. His footwork wasn't bothering me. I knew he would tire out. That's why we decided to just stand there and be a target for him so he could tire himself out.”
