The inaugural edition of the Road Safety World Series turned out to be a major success as India Legends, under the captaincy of Sachin Tendulkar, lifted the title after they defeated Sri Lanka Legends by 14 runs in the final. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for the 2nd season of the tournament but the pandemic has resulted in the continuous postponement.

After it was earlier reported that it would commence in November last year, the subsequent reports suggested that the Road Safety World Series 2022 would kick off in February. However, the recent development has revealed that the upcoming edition of the tournament will be played after IPL 2022, in the month of June.

Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Lucknow, and Indore have reportedly been selected as the four venues, however official confirmation on the same is still awaited.

Many players, who took part in Legends League Cricket, are expected to take part in Road Safety World Series 2022 as well. From the likes of Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Manpreet Gony to international stars like Kevin Pietersen, Herschelle Gibbs, Tillakaratne Dilshan - it is certainly going to be another blockbuster season featuring retired superstars.

Sachin Tendulkar likely to pull out of Road Safety World Series 2022

In a shocking development, it has been reported that Sachin Tendulkar, who was the brand ambassador of the tournament in the inaugural edition, has decided to pull out of the project over unpaid dues of last season.

"Sachin will not be a part of RSWS this season… Yes, Sachin is among many cricketers who took part in the tournament, who haven’t been paid by the organisers. And one needs to get in touch with a Ravi Gaikwad, who was the premier organiser," a source had told PTI a few days back.

Although it has been revealed that the payment issues have now been sorted, it will be intriguing to see if Sachin Tendulkar agrees to play the tournament or now this year.
