Both Australia Legends and Bangladesh Legends have not had the best start to the tournament. Both teams faced crushing defeats in their respective first games. While Bangladesh Legends were thrashed by West Indies Legends, Australia Legends were defeated by Sri Lanka Legends. BAN-L could not play their next game against New Zealand Legends as the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled. However, both teams will have a chance to get back on track and sleeve up for the further part of the tournament when they meet on Sunday.
The Holkar Stadium pitch is one of the belters that helps batters. The shorter boundaries also work in their favour. Meanwhile, bowlers have to stick to a particular length and line to not leak runs. Spinners get some help during the middle overs with the pitch getting a bit slower.
Australia Legends were completely blown away by Sri Lanka Legends batters in their first game. The opening pair of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Dilshan Munaweera looked unstoppable as they stitched a 208-run partnership. SL-L captain Dilshan was the force to reckon as he scored a century. However, Brett Lee got rid of him eventually and it remained the only wicket taken by Australia Legends that day. Although they did try hard to chase the total, it was too much to score. Shane Watson, Cameron White, Callum Ferguson, and Nathan Reardon put in efforts but in the end, AUS-L fell short by 38 runs. However, they will back themselves to beat Bangladesh Legends on Sunday.
Australia Legends Squad
Australia Legends: Shane Watson (C), Ben Dunk, Brad Hodge, Alex Doolan, Stuart Clark, Brad Haddin, Bryce McGain, Brett Lee, Cameron White, George Horlin, Callum Ferguson, John Hastings, Dirk Nannes, Jason Krejza, Nathan Reardon, and Chadd Sayers.
Shahadat Hossain-led Bangladesh Legends looked clueless in their match against West Indies Legends as they lost it by six wickets. BAN-L got bowled out for 98 in 19.4 overs. In bowling, they got a few breakthroughs but the target on the board was never enough. None of the Bangladesh Legends batters looked to put up a fight as they played defensive cricket. However, Abdur Razzak, Alok Kapali, and Dolar Mahmud did create some troubles for WI-L batters. Now, after such a defeat it would be hard for Bangladesh Legends to pull themselves back and put a fight against Australia Legends but they will have to.
Bangladesh Legends Squad
Shahadat Hossain (c), Alamgir Kabir, Aftab Ahmed, Abdur Razzak, Mamun-ur-Rashed, Alok Kapali, Dhiman Ghosh, Dolar Mahmud, Nazmus Sadat, Mohammad Sharif, Khaled Mashud, Elias Sunny, Mehrab Hossain, Abul Hasan, Mohammed Nazimuddin, Tushar Imran.
Australia Legends look better placed in terms of the players they have. Therefore, they will be the favourites to win the match on Sunday (18 September).
