Preview:

Bangladesh Legends and West Indies Legends will lock horns in match number 2 of the Road Safety World Series in Kanpur. Both teams were part of the inaugural season as well but failed to reach the finals. This time around as the action returns and eight teams compete for the ultimate title, both sides would want to improve on their performances from the last season while also enjoying themselves as they revive some old cricketing rivalries.

Pitch Report:

147 was the first innings total in the only T20I that has been played at the Green Park Stadium. As the matches happen here, one will get a more realistic picture of how the surface is. Traditionally though spinners do get a bit of assistance on this surface on an otherwise good batting surface. So anything between 160-180 seems to be a par score. However, a lot would depend on the fitness levels of some of these players and how in touch they have been with the game after they have retired from active sports.

Team Analysis:

Bangladesh Legends

The Shahadat Hossain-led Bangladesh Legends looks a decent side on paper with the likes of Abdur Razzak and Alok Kapali in their ranks. If at all there is a hint of spin, this Bangladesh Legend side has enough talent to run through the opposition batting order. Their middle order seems to be a bit of concern at this stage.

Bangladesh Legends Full Squad: Shahadat Hossain (captain), Abdur Razzak, Alamgir Kabir, Aftab Ahmed, Alok Kapali, Mamun-ur-Rashed, Nazmus Sadat, Dhiman Ghosh, Dolar Mahmud, Khaled Mashud, Mohammad Sharif, Mehrab Hossain, Elias Sunny, Mohammed Nazimuddin, Abul Hasan, Tushar Imran.

West Indies Legends

By contrast, West Indies Legends have a star-studded team with the likes of captain Brian Lara,  Devendra Bishoo, Dwayne Smith, Jerome Taylor and Sulieman Benn. They would be tested against Bangladesh spinners but seem to have decent depth in their batting.

West Indies Legends Full Squad: Brian Lara (captain), Danza Hyatt, Devendra Bishoo, Dwayne Smith, Jerome Taylor, Kirk Edwards, Marlon Ian Black, Narsingh Deonarine, Sulieman Benn, Daren Powell, William Perkins, Darion Barthley, Dave Mohammed, and Krishmar Santokie.

Conclusion:

West Indies Legends look like the pre-match favourites. They are the better team on paper but crazy things tend to happen on the cricket field which makes it such an exciting sport. But looking at the teams before the first ball is bowled, one would have to pick West Indies Legends as the probable winner of this fixture.
