The ninth match of the second edition of the Road Safety World Series will bring England Legends up against West Indies Legends on September 17 (Saturday) at Holkar Stadium, in Indore. Both the teams could not play their last fixtures as matches were abandoned without a single ball being bowled. While West Legends won their first match against Bangladesh Legends by six wickets on September 11, England Legends were outplayed by Sri Lanka Legends on September 13.
The pitch at Holkar Stadium is a batting friendly pitch and we can expect high scoring match on Saturday. However, spinners might be impactful in the game as the surface provides lot of turn once the proceedings take place. The fast bowlers will have to bring their A game in the match to make an impression.
Ian Bell-led side will be desperate to get back their winning ways as the side is studded with some great set of players but their campaign in the tournament has not been up to the mark so far. Eight of their batters failed to reach double digit figures against Sri Lanka and 15 off 24 from Ian Bell was the highest run score from the side.
The likes of Phill Mustard, Mal Loye, Darren Maddy and Tim Ambdrose would be hoping to showcase their batting prowess and contribute against West Indies. England's bowling looks formidable on paper, but the bowlers are yet to display their potential in the tournament.
West Indies Legends
Kirk Edwards-led side put in dominating show against Bangladesh Legends as the latter were bowled out at 98. Krishmar Santokie picked three wickets, while Sulieman Benn and Dave Mohammed returned with two wickets in the game. The Caribbean Legends will be hoping to continue their top-form in the competition.
In batting, Dwayne Smith was the highest run-getter with his 51 off 42 runs and picked one wicket, as well in the game. Skipper Kirk Edwards too made valuable contribution with 22 off 19 deliveries. Despite chasing just 98-runs, West Indies lost 4 wickets in the game and that would be a matter of concern for the side.
Probably playing XI:
England Legends: Ian Bell (c), Phil Mustard ( wk ), Mal Loye, Darren Maddy, Tim Ambrose, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Rikki Clarke, Chris Schofield, Stephen Parry, Chris Tremlett, Stuart Meaker
West Indies Legends: Dwayne Smith (c), Dave Mohammed, Narsingh Deonarine, Kirk Edwards, Danza Hyatt, William Perkins (wk ), Sulieman Benn, Devendra Bishoo, Marlon Black, Krishmar Santokie, Daren Powel
Although, England Legends lost their first fixture, but they will come hard on West Indies Legends who registered their only victory against Bangladesh Legends. Ian Bell-led side will be desperate to make the mark and is likely to outplay West Indies Legends.
