Indian tennis veteran Rohan Bopanna, along with his Australian partner Matthew Ebden earned their Nitto ATP Finals Team Debut. The Indo-Australian duo secured their berth in the season finale after making it to the final of Rolex Shanghai Masters. Bopanna and Ebden will join the likes of Ivan Dodig / Austin Krajicek and Wesley Koolhof / Neal Skupski at the year-end championships, which are slated to be held at the Pala Alpitour in Turin from 12-19 November.

Speaking of the tournament, the ATP Finals is a men's tennis tournament which will be played in Italy in the third week of November. The tennis event is the season-ending event for the highest-ranked singles players and doubles teams on the 2023 ATP Tour.

The ATP Finals will be played in a round-robin format, where eight teams or players will be divided into two groups of four each. The group placements were done on the basis of most wins, most matches played (e.g., a 2–1 record beats a 2–0 record), head-to-head result between tied players or teams, highest percentage of sets won, highest percentage of games won, ATP rank after the last ATP Tour tournament of the year.

Bopanna and Ebden made it to the final of the Shanghai Masters by beating  the French duo of Fabien Reboul/Sadio Doumbia 7-6 (0), 4-6, [10-2] in the semifinal.  In their final clash, they will face Spain's Marcel Granollers/Horacio Ceballos in the final on Saturday.  Not only this, but with this win, Bopanna made his comeback in the top 5 of the ATP rankings and became the oldest player to make it to the ATP's top 5.
