Indian batting top order has been exposed in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022 as the openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma failed to register a decent partnership in the early stages of the game. Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has recently expressed his concern regarding the Indian top order in batting.

However, Indian star batter Virat Kohli returned to form as he scored his maiden T20I century before scoring highest runs against Pakistan in both their fixtures and a half-century against Hong Kong in the group stage.

While talking on his YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria shed a light on the inconsistency of the Indian top order including skipper Rohit Sharma and his deputy KL Rahul. Both the players struggled to score big as Rohit scored a half century against Sri Lanka , while KL Rahul scored a fifty against Afghanistan.

Kaneria said, "While Virat Kohli has returned to form, the likes of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul must score big runs. Otherwise, their campaign will be the same as it was at the Asia Cup."

The former Pakistan leg-spinner also talked about the inclusion of Indian pacer Umran Malik as a standby player to train the Indian batters against quick bowling on Australian pitches. " India could have kept Umran Malik as one of the standby players as the Indian batters would have got to practice against a bowler who can consistently bowl quick," Kaneria added.

India will host Australia for the three-match T20I series starting from September 20 before beginning their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23.
