In the match 50th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Rohit Sharma, the former captain of Mumbai Indians (MI), survived an lbw decision after taking the DRS just in the nick of time. The right-handed batter was completely deceived by Fazalhaq Farooqi with a slower ball before the on-field umpire gave him his marching orders, but after he was given not out on review, Rohit Sharma had a big sigh of relief on his face, and he could been seen uttering the word, “Yeah.”
The moment happened on the fifth ball of the second over of the MI innings after RR captain Riyan Parag put them into batting first at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Fazalhaq Farooqi managed to surprise Rohit Sharma with a slower ball, and it wrapped him on his pads before the on-field umpire had no hesitation in giving him out lbw, signalling an early end to his innings.
The first reaction to the decision from Rohit Sharma was to walk back to the pavilion, but he had a discussion with Ryan Rickelton before deciding to take the DRS out of sheer desperation within just a second left on the timer. It ended up proving to be quite a good decision from the former Indian captain as he was given not out by the technology.
