The Rohit Sharma-led Team India are hosting the Three Lions in the second of the five-match Test series at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. After opting to bat first, the hosts were bundled out at the core of 396, just four runs shy of a 400-run mark in the first innings.

While the other members of the side failed to capitalise in the first inning, Yashasvi Jaiswal was the sole warrior, scoring 209 runs before falling off James Anderson and a brilliant catch from Jonny Bairstow. However, with the Indian batter reaching his second Test ton on Day 1 of the ongoing Test, an old comment of India skipper Rohit Sharma has been doing rounds.

A post which Jaiswal shared on social media some more than 150 weeks ago got the attention of Rohit Sharma, who had then comment, hailing the UP-born batter as “Next superstar”. However, it seems that Sharma’s prophecy has come true with the left-hander notching his maiden double hundred against England earlier today.

Speaking of Jaiswal, the Indian opener became just the third youngest Indian to reach a double hundred after Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar. While this innings marked his fourth 50-plus score in India whites. Moreover, he became the first batter to score two centuries in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle.
