Former India coach Ravi Shastri recently narrated an anecdote from India’s historic 2021 Test tour of England which ended 2-2. India registered a massive 151-run win against England in the second Test at Lord’s. Rohit produced a scintillating 83, and when it seemed that he would get a hundred at the iconic stadium, he was dismissed by James Anderson. Shastri recalled how Rohit after returning to the change room was upset and remained in a zone for a while.

"When Rohit got out, he came back to the dressing room and just sat quietly on a table. He was in a daze. He just wanted that hundred. A special feeling for any player to get a hundred at Lord's. And you could see that he was really, really dejected. But he made up for it at The Oval," Ravi Shastri said on air during the 2nd ODI between India and England at Lord’s.

But unfortunately for India, they failed to replicate their success on the historic ground on Thursday as England registered a 100-run win to level the ODI series 1-1. The home team had an above-average batting performance as they posted 246 runs with Moeen Ali, David Willey and Jonny Bairstow scoring crucial runs.

Then in the second innings, England’s Reece Topley created havoc as he ran through the Indian batting and picked up six wickets while giving away just 24 runs in his 9.5 overs. Topley also bowled two maidens in his spell. The Men in Blue had a horror start to their innings as their top four combined to score 25 runs. Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja tried getting the Indian innings back on track but fell short.
