Former Haas driver Romain Grosjean will now take on the Esports operations of the team ahead of 2021 season. The Frenchman, who made 98 appearances for the American team in F1 Grand Prix in his career, had a fatal clash in Bahrain GP last year. That turned out to be his last race for Haas as they had already announced the signing of rookie drivers Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher for the upcoming season. However, what people thought of an unfortunate end to Grosjean's 5-year relationship with Haas, wasn't actually the conclusion.

Romain and Haas - The relationship continues

In an exciting turn of events, it has been announced that the Esports operations of Uralkali Haas F1 Team will now be handled by Romain Grosjean’s R8G Esports team. The 34-year-old said that he was really happy to get this opportunity to manage the team's entry in 2021 F1 Esports Pro Series.

Grosjean stated, “I’ve been involved in esports for a year now and I believe our team is doing very well. For me, being able to help Haas F1 in this field, and going racing together – well, it’s a great story. Obviously, it’s a cool continuation of what we built together. So, I’m very much looking forward to the first race and to see what we can build together in Esports competition.”

Delighted to utilize Romain’s enthusiasm for Esports: Steiner

Guenther Steiner, Team principal at Uralkali Haas F1 Team, was also thrilled after this exciting collaboration with their former driver. The 55-year-old stated that he is delighted to utilize Romain’s enthusiasm for Esports and R8G Esports’ expertise to oversee their continued participation in the F1 Esports Pro Series.

Steiner stated, “We know we’re partnering with a group that truly understands the demands of the esports environment and can help take our program to the next level. We’ve had some memorable points-earning finishes in past F1 Esports Pro Series and won this season’s Virtual Grand Prix Series. It would be fantastic to maintain that form under the guidance of R8G Esports in the F1 Esports Pro Series this season.”

Apart from this, there is much more to be excited for Grosjean fans this year. The Frenchman is continuing his own racing career this season as he will be seen competing in United States in the 2021 IndyCar Series.
