Brazil football legend Ronaldinho is set to launch a worldwide street football league to give young talented players a platform to showcase their skills. The tournament will be called the Ronaldinho Global Street League and is set to kick off in “late 2023.”

The tournament will initially include a social media tryout where street football players across different age groups can upload their best skills and tricks in an attempt to be selected for one of the teams in the tournament.

This league will include events like head-to-head matches and skills competitions which will take place in major cities across the world. These teams will lock horns in a league for the title of “RGSL Champions” and the winners will also become part of the Ronaldinho Globe Street Team.

Addressing this new tournament, the former Barcelona star stated that with this League he hopes to support players, who will be the future of football. Ronaldinho said, “We believe there is massive value in the space — and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to support the players of the future,”

Behind this tournament, Ronaldinho has partnered up with sports agent and former player Roberto de Assis Moreira and the co-founder of Mike Tyson’s Legends League, Sophie Watts, to launch the league.  Speaking about this venture, Moreira spoke about how he has been exposed to the impact and influence of street football and hence hopes to support players from across the world.

He said, “Ronaldinho and I grew up in an underprivileged community in Brazil,” Moreira said. “We know first-hand the power of street football in empowering youth and are fully dedicated to discovering and supporting street soccer players around the world through RGSL.”
