Indian tennis icon Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden advanced to the semifinals of the Royal Shanghai Masters in the men's doubles category. The Indo-Australia pair locked horns with the Dutch tennis player Jean-Julien Rojer and his Salvadoran partner Marcelo Arévalo on October 12, Thursday. Bopanna and Ebden displayed a brilliant game to outclass their 8th-seed opponents 6-4, 6-2.
The Bopanna-Ebden pair secured their berth in the quarters of the event earlier on Tuesday after beating Andrey Rublev and Khachanov 4-6, 6-3, 10-8. Before that, they had taken down Matwe Middelkoop and Andreas Mies 6-4, 6-3. Speaking of their forthcoming clash, they will lock horns with the French pair of Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia on October 14, Saturday.
The Indian tennis veteran Rohan Bopanna has been in his red-hot form of late. Bopanna was coming on the back of a gold medal at the Asian Games with his mixed doubles partner Rutuja Bhosale. Before that, Boppana and Ebden duo ended their US Open 2023 campaign as runners-up.
