Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has lodged a police complaint with Mumbai Police over his name and voice being used for fake advertisements. Mumbai crime branch’s cyber cell has registered the complaint of the Master Blaster alleging his name is being used in fake advertisements to mislead people on the internet. The case has been registered against unidentified people under IPC sections 426, 465, and 500.

There have been many cases where the pictures and voices of celebrities are being used for commercial purposes online.  The SRT Sports Management Team has issued a statement in this regard. It read, "We have noticed that there have been attempts to impersonate Sachin Tendulkar's attributes in an unauthorized manner, for selling products and services not associated with him. These are being done with a deliberate and malicious intention of misleading gullible citizens to buy unauthorised products and services online. We have lodged an official complaint with the Cyber Cell department and have highlighted these to social media platforms where such misleading advertisements are being broadcast."

According to the ANI, one of Tendulkar's aides had filed a complaint on Thursday with the West Region Cyber Police Station in this regard. As per the complaint, he came across online advertisements of a drug company that claimed that Tendulkar did his advertisements and endorsed the products on the internet.

The complainant also came across a website, sachinhealth.in, which promoted the products online using Tendulkar’s pictures. The complaint also said that Tendulkar never gave any permission to the company to use his name and photograph and as the website used his photo, Tendulkar asked him to file a police complaint.
