Veteran Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has pulled out of the upcoming 2023 Swiss Open. The London Olympics bronze medallist who was set to face Thailand’s Lalinrat Chaiwan in the first round of the tournament, announced her decision on Monday night, a day prior to her Round 1.
It is to be noted this is the third tournament Nehwal has pulled out of in just three weeks' time. The World number 27 earlier withdrew her name from the All-England Badminton Championships and the German Open. However, the reason of her withdrawals is yet unknown.
Putri Kusuma Wardani to replace Nehwal at Swiss Open 2023
Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani has been named as Nehwal’s replacement in the tournament. PV Sindhu, who is the defending champion will aim to defend her title in the tournament. HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth are the Indian shuttlers in the men’s singles category.
