In a big update, Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik has withdrawn from the ongoing wrestlers' protest. The Indian wrestler was part of the protest which started in January 2023 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. However, it was called off in the first month itself but got a boost again in April with it being on from more than a month now.

It is to be noted that this comes after a delegation of wrestlers met the Home Minister Amit Shah early this morning on June 5 in Delhi. Malik was also a part of the delegation alongside Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat.

“They shared their concern with Home Minster. The meeting was long,  and he listened to everything. But koi decision nhi hua abhi tak (no decision has been reached so far),” a source informed IANS. According to recent reports, Malik has rejoined her railway services after pulling out from the protest.

The top Indian grapplers are staging the protest against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI)’s Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is also a MP. The wrestlers have levelled allegations against the WFI head of harassing seven wrestlers, including a minor.

Lately, these wrestlers were detained for violation of law after they breached the security process while moving towards the new Parliament with Section 144 being imposed around the area. However, after this, these key sports personalities also threatened to immerse their earned medals in Ganga. Although they reached the banks of the river in Haridwar, but were eventually stopped by a farmer leader Naresh Tikait, leading to their return to Delhi. On June 5, they met with the Home Minister at his residence to discuss the matter and proceed with further procedure.
