As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 gets exciting with each passing day, in match number 42, the inaugural title winners, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. While the visitors will hope to overturn their past results against the Bengaluru-based franchise, they have been handed a massive setback as they will be without their regular skipper, Sanju Samson.
Samson, who missed RR’s last match, when they hosted the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, will not travel with them for the return fixture against RCB. The wicketkeeper-batter, in match against Delhi Capitals (DC) was forced to retire hurt after facing some abdominal pain. While he missed the next fixture, Riyan Parag stood-up in his place in RR’s home match against LSG.
Sanju Samson to miss RCB vs RR IPL 2025 match due to abdominal pain
Speaking ahead of the RR’s next match, the Royals sent out a statement on Samson’s injury, which read, “He is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team’s home base with select RR medical staff. As part of his ongoing rehab process, he will not be travelling to Bengaluru for the upcoming match against RCB.”
While the side has been struggling this season, they will hope to quickly get back to winning ways when they travel to Bengaluru. With youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi replacing Samson in the XI, he will aim to convert with his bat. Speaking of their 2025 season so far, RR are placed eighth in the points table with two wins from eight games.
