The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Babar Azam has been named the captain of the side, while star spinner Shadab Khan will be the vice-captain of the Men in Green. Star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who missed out on Asia Cup 2022 due to a knee injury, has made a comeback to Pakistan’s T20I side. 

Meanwhile, Fakhar Zaman who had a forgettable outing with the bat at Asia Cup 2022 has been kept in reserve players. Pacer Shahnawaz Dahini and Mohammad Haris will accompany Zaman in the reserve players list. In the main squad, almost all the players who played in the Asia Cup 2022 have been retained. 

Mohammad Wasim Jr. who was ruled out of the continental showpiece event has also been included in the 15-man squad. Notably, Pakistan have been placed in Group 2 alongside India, South Africa and Bangladesh. The Men in Green will open their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against India on 23 October.
