Mitchell McClenaghan, Nicholas Pooran, Mohammed Mahmadullah, Sherfane Rutherford, Ravi Rampaul, David Wiese and Calum Ferguson are some of the other players who have made themselves available prior to the Players Draft of the second edition.

More players from many cricket playing countries looking forward to play in the LPL: SLC Vice President

“Last year's success has certainly made a difference with more players from many cricket playing countries looking forward to play in the LPL, which is a very good sign for the League and Sri Lanka cricket,” Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Vice President Ravin Wickremaratne stated in a release.

The inaugural season of the tournament was successfully organised in a bio-bubble environment. Jaffna Stallions had won the competition by defeating Galle Gladiators in the final on December 16, 2020. Whie Gladiators' Danushka Gunathilaka had ended up as the leading run-getter with 476 runs from 10 matches, Stallions' Wanindu Hasaranga took the most number of wickets in the first season (17).

This year, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has confirmed that the tournament will begin on July 30, with the final scheduled on August 22.
