As per the Bangladesh Cricket Board, veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to lead Bangladesh in the upcoming Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. Along with this announcement, the board has also named the Bangladesh squad for the Asia Cup 2022 with the biggest exclusion being wicketkeeper-batter Liton Das, who suffered an injury in the recent Zimbabwe tour.

The squad marks the return of Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Ebadat Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin.

Notably, BCB have included Nurul Hasan in the squad who had earlier been ruled out due to injury.

"We will see where he stands and so we are keeping him in the squad,'' BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin said while announcing the squad.

The Asia Cup is set to begin on August 27. Bangladesh will be one of six teams participating in the main round of the tournament, along with India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and a qualifier.

The sixth team will be decided via a qualifying tournament that starts on August 20.
