Mumbai Indians pacer Jofra Archer has slammed the reputed tabloid 'The Telegraph' for putting out a news article regarding him visiting Belgium for a minor surgery of his elbow during the early phase of the Indian Premier League 2023. The Telegraph, earlier today reported that Archer’s right elbow has been troubling him again, and he had visited an expert in Belgium to get ‘a minor procedure’ done, which would have been his fifth surgery in past 25 months. It also said that the cricketer had taken a brief time off from his stint with Mumbai Indians, and is likely to participate in Mumbai’s next match with Rajasthan on Sunday.

However, thrashing the reports to be untrue, the cricketer has slammed the journalist for putting out the news without his consent. He also said that such news and articles affect the player’s mental health. Taking to his Twitter, he wrote, “Putting out an article without knowing the facts & without my consent is crazy.” He added, “Who ever the reporter is shame on you, an already worrying and troubling time for a player and you exploit it for your personal gain, it’s people like you that are the problem.”

Meanwhile, the England pacer has featured in only two of the seven matches of Mumbai Indians in this season of the Indian Premier League. He missed Mumbai’s clash against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday but is expected to return to the squad in their next clash against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. Apart from that, in both the matches he has played, Archer has conceded 75 runs with one wicket.
