In an upsetting turn of events, more than 300 Pakistan nationals were captured in the water in boast disaster. Notably, an overcrowded boast with more than 300 Pakistan fishing trawler were caught as the boat sank off the coast of Greece.
However, Greek authorities are yet to confirm Pakistan’s death toll and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered a high-level inquiry regarding the incident. Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has opened up on the incident and expressed his grief and sorrow over the tragic incident.
Akhtar took to Twitter to share his condolences regarding the horrific incident. "I am just horrified and in pain to hear about the #GreekBoatDisaster. I am not sure of exact figures yet but hundreds of Pakistanis have lost their lives," Akhtar tweeted in English as well as Urdu.
Akhtar, who played 46 Tests and 163 ODIs for Pakistan, is known for his outspoken views and social activism. The pacer has often raised his voice for various causes, such as supporting education, health, and sports in Pakistan, condemning racism and discrimination in cricket, and calling for peace and harmony between India and Pakistan.
