The Men in Blue are currently locking horns with Babar Azam-led Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2023 opener at the Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy. While the match started on time with Rohit winning the toss and opting to bat first, a brief 33-minute halt was seen as rain came into play.

 

Although as the play resumed after a brief halt, the Men in Blue saw a quick fall of wickets as skipper Rohit Sharma departed at the score of 11. Soon followed him back to the pavilion was batting stalwart Virat Kohli, who was dismissed at the score of 4 off 7 deliveries. Not long before the match saw another halt with the passing showers, Shreyas Iyer, who looked good on return saw his bat break in the eighth over of the inning.

 

On the fourth delivery of the eighth over, Iyer sliced through the covers as Haris Rauf pitched outside off. Soon after he creamed the ball through the covers, a part of his bat was seen broken into two as the picture of the same went viral.

 

Furthermore, Iyer’s stay at the crease was cut short by the Pakistan pacer Rauf as Fakhar Zaman pulled off a sharp catch at mid-wicket. On the fifth delivery of the tenth over, Fakhar Zaman, who was placed at mid-wicket showed his sharp reflexes as the Men in Green handed India their third wicket.

  

Talking about the match, the Men in Blue have reached 51/3 at the end of 11.2 overs with rain stopping the play in Kandy.
