Biopics on sports personalities seems like a new success formula for Bollywood. And quite recently, we have observed directors and writers taking a keen interest in bringing up the stories related to the struggle and success of players. While biopics like MS Dhoni and 83 were a massive success on the box office and were critically acclaimed, a movie on Jhulan Goswami starring Anushka Sharma is in pre-production. As per the trailer, it is expected to receive much love from the fans.
Fox Star Studios, Friday Filmworks, and Bootroom Sports Production announced on Monday that the official biopic on Indian cricketer Pravin Tambe titled 'Kaun Pravin Tambe?' is all set to release on April 1, 2022. The biopic starring Shreyas Talpade will be released on OTT platform Disney + Hotstar and is directed by Jayprad Desai. It will also feature Ashish Vidyarthi, Parambrata Chatterjee and Anjali Patil in pivotal roles.
The film will give an exciting insight into the life and passion of the leg spinner who started playing for Rajasthan Royals at the age of 41 and received wide recognition for his incredible performance, including a hat-trick. At the age of 48, Tambe, in 2020, became the first India to feature in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Pravin Tambe responded to the news, "I feel humbled that my story has inspired so many and now has been made into a film. I only wish that more and more aspiring cricketers get inspired by my story and fulfil their dreams." He also said that youngsters must not underestimate their potential and should not give up under challenging circumstances.

The lead actor Shreyas Talpade who debuted with the movie Iqbal, based on cricket, mentioned that he felt exceptionally fortunate to portray Pravin on screen.
"The role and the story provided me with a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I loved & treasured every minute of filming. I am very grateful to Bootroom Sports and Fox Star Studios and our immensely talented director Jayprad who envisioned me in this role," Shreyas said.
