The Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans suffered their first defeat of the IPL 2024 edition in a match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday, March 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In his side’s 63-run loss against the CSK, captain Shubman Gill was also issued an INR 12 Lakh fine.

Gill’s fine comes just at the start of the season with the team recording slow over-rate at the Chepauk Stadium. As it was the team’s first offence in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the captain has been handed INR 12 Lakh fine. “Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on March 26. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Gill was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” the official statement from the BCCI read.

The GT side was only allowed to field four players outside the 30 yards circle during the CSK’s final over in the innings, kicking off their slow over-rate penalty.
