India are currently in the Caribbean for the white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and five T20Is. While the ODI series is almost complete with the final match of the series currently underway at the Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad, the five-match T20I series begins on 29 July. The tour ends with the final match scheduled on 7 August. Post this tour to the West Indies, India are all set to travel to Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series.

The Men in Blue will tour Zimbabwe for the first time in six years as the last time India played in Zimbabwe was way back in 2016. The team played T20Is and ODIs on their last tour under MS Dhoni. While the schedule for the tour is all decided, the teams are yet to announce their squads. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to name a squad soon and as has been the case in the last few series, India may send a second-string team.

It might be a possibility that the same squad that played against the West Indies (with a few changes) is sent to Zimbabwe for the three ODIs. Sources close to SportsTiger have said that Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson are all set to retain their places in the squad after a decent show against the Windies. Notably, Gill has scored around 150 runs in three matches so far while Samson scored a crucial half-century in the second ODI.

It is also reported that KL Rahul might lead the team in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma who is expected to take a break to prepare for the Asia Cup. However, as Rahul has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be missing the five T20Is against the West Indies, his availability for the Zimbabwe series is also doubtful.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli who asked for a break from the West Indies tour may return to play against Zimbabwe. Notably, India will play the three ODIs on 18, 20, and 22 August at the Harare Sports Club.
