During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT), Shubman Gill got a life on the bowling of Riyan Parag while he was on 33 runs in 18 balls in his innings. After RR’s teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi dropped the catch, not before giving it a vaillant try, the cameras panned to Shubman Gill’s sister, Shahneel Gill, who was spotted folding her hands in a prayer, wanting her brother to continue forward in his innings.

The moment happened on the third ball in the seventh over of GT innings when Riyan Parag bowled a shorter length ball around leg stump, and Shubman Gill tried to play the pull stroke, only to mistime it. The ball was spooned towards the square leg area where Vaibhav Suryavanshi ran in and put in the dive, but he wasn’t able to grab hold of the ball, allowing the batter to take two runs in the process as well.

Shubman Gill took advantage of the drop catch as he ended up scoring 84 runs in 50 balls with five fours and four maximums, setting up a perfect platform for GT to score a big total alongside opening partner Sai Sudharsan. Ultimately, it was a fifty scored in just 26 balls by Jos Buttler, who returned to the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur for the first-time after being released by RR, which helped GT reach a formidable total of 209/4 in the allotted 20 overs.
