Indian shooter Sift Kaur Samra exhibited her valiant side and bagged the bronze medal in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions event at the ISSF World Cup on June 12. In the eight-player final, she looked confident and went on to shoot 453.1. Double-Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker also registered her presence in the competition but couldn't be impressive as she finished in the sixth spot in the 25-metre competition on June 11. The gold medal went to Norway's Jeanette Hegg Duestad with 466.9, while Emely Jaeggi of Switzerland gained the silver medal with 464.8.
Samra’s journey was long to achieve the latest success as she looked outstanding in the qualifying round, concluding in the second position with an aggregate of 592 across the three spots, which included kneeling, proning, and standing. She also had a tie game with France’s Agathe Cecile Camille Girard before making it to the final. Before adding bronze to her profile, she also won a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup held in Buenos Aires.
Ankush Jadhav concluded his tournament in the 11th position
In the men's 10m air rifle competition, Ankush Jadhav missed the opportunity to qualify for the finals and ended in the 11th spot in the qualification stage with 631.7 in six series. Another Indian shooter Arjun Babuta put up a disappointing show as he was placed 43rd with the figures of 629.1. Sandeep Singh finished in the 53rd spot with 628.3.
Samra’s compatriots Ashi Chouksey and Anjum Moudgil ended in the 11th and 27th spots respectively. Chouksey got 589 while Moudgil earned 588. Shriyanka Sadangi got the 53rd position with 582.
