After Virat Kohli had smashed his first hundred of the 2023 Indian Premier League campaign on May 18, the cricket fans at the stadium and on the social media were buzzing with excitement like never before. They were congratulating the Indian cricketing superstar on his special knock for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Sunrisers Hyderabad, including Rajat Sharma, the senior journalist from India TV.

The former President of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), who has been a part of Kohli’s journey as a cricketer in the nation’s capital during his tenure in the top job and before that, took to Twitter and said that his hundred was a delight to watch. In the same tweet, Sharma took a sly dig at Gautam Gambhir, another former Indian cricketer from the city of Delhi, by stating that somebody somewhere may not be happy.

Ever since Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir had a heated exchange on May 1 in Lucknow at the Ekana Cricket Stadium when hosts Lucknow Super Giants took on Royal Challengers Bangalore, there has been a constant back and forth between fans and admirers of both the players on social media. But with Rajat Sharma, such an esteemed personality in Indian media, joining in on the chatter, the stakes have risen to a whole new level.

Meanwhile, the scintillating 100 off 63 deliveries from the RCB opener has ensured that his team got over the line against SRH in Hyderabad. With this all-important victory, the Royal Challengers have gotten a step closer to making the IPL playoffs, but still, they have to get past the Titans at home in their final league stage game of the season on May 21, Sunday.
